Visitor Recipe: Mysore Set Dosa

Bhagi Atma from Bangalore submitted this recipe for Mysore Set Dosa. Unique to Karnataka, ‘Set Dosa’ is called so because it is usually served in a set of 3 dosas. You can find them in most restaurants and ‘darshinis’ around Karnataka.

Mysore Set Dosa

You’ll need:

  • 1 measure urad dal
  • 1 measure sago rice
  • 1 measure avalakki or poha
  • 4 measures raw rice
  • Half teaspoon fenugreek seeds

Method / How – to

  1. Wash and soak all the above for at least 4 hours.
  2. Then grind all ingredients using enough water till they become a smooth thick batter.
  3. Add salt to taste and leave to ferment overnight.
  4. Next morning mix the batter well and make set dose as per your choice on a non-stick griddle.
  5. Normally the set dose are made thick and roasted on both sides.
  6. This recipe makes soft spongy doses which may be eaten with chutney and chutney podi.

Your Set Dosa sounds delicious…I must make this soon…uphere in U.S. i always have a hard time trying to find ingredients…one of my friend introduced me to a great resource http://www.myethnicworld.com and i thought that i pass great along as well.

Nice recipe for Dosa. Thanks a lot for posting it. Though I am extremely fond of Paneer Dishes like Palak Paneer, Paneer Butter Masala etc but I also try south indian dishes once every fortnight.
