Video – Carrot Kosambari (Salad)

I have known Kosambari or Kosmari as a traditional South Indian Salad. It is usually prepared and served as part of a long menu during special occasions such as festivals and weddings in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

The regular version of Kosumbari is the one with Cucumber. The other version is the one with Carrots. The video below shows you how to make Carrot Kosambari. This video comes courtesy of Hetal and Anuja from Show me the Curry.com.

Just a minor correction… the original Kosambari is not made with cucumber it is made with either urud or channa dal. All other kosambaries are all variation from those.

They are also at times called “daaha parihar” because they are so rich in water content.
